What Are Prefab Homes?
The term “prefab” finds its source in the word prefabricated. Prefab homes are the houses which are manufactured in parts in an offsite factory and then assembled onsite using heavy machinery, screws, nails, industrial strength glue etc.
These homes are built just like how modern cars are built. Different parts of the car are manufactured in different parts of the factory and then the whole thing is assembled together, including the frames, doors, seats, windows, wiring etc. The only difference is that prefab homes are assembled onsite, not in the factory.
Types of Prefab Homes:
There are three main types of prefab homes. They are:
Modular and Manufactured Homes:
These are also called mobile homes. This kind of prefab home are made of two-three manufactured modules. Each module is manufactured in the factory and comes pre-fitted with all the important parts- doors, windows, wiring, plumbing, stairs and/or closets. The modules are assembled together onsite. As all the fittings and wiring and plumbing has already been done, modular homes take less time to build onsite.
All American Modular LLC specializes in these types of homes.
Panelized Homes:
Panelized homes are manufactured panel by panel. For example, they manufacture the wall, the roof, the floor and then it is all assembled onsite. Panelized homes don’t come with wiring, plumbing, fittings etc. This all is done onsite. Due to this it takes longer to assemble a panelized home than a modular one. But its advantage is that it can be customized according to you.
Precut Homes:
Precut homes were the first version of prefab homes. These homes are sold as house kits which contains all the pre-cut parts. Then the DIY enthusiast buyers can assemble it themselves on the site of their choice.
The Benefits of Prefab Homes:
There are many benefits to modular and manufactured prefab homes:
Save Time:
From our first contact to move in can be as little as 4 months.
Prefab Homes are Green:
The necessary energy for construction is much lower than traditional site built homes. Prefab homes are made in factories with modern technologies that permit a minimum of material waste, reduce gas and diesel use for multiple transports of material and work force to job sites, and minimize construction noise and other pollution
High Quality:
Prefab homes pass quality inspections at every step of manufacturing. Also, these homes are built to be shipped. This requires them to be sturdy. Also, as these homes are built in a factory, you can rest assured that your home won’t be subjected to environmental factors like rain, hail, extreme heat or storms even before it is built.
